Firm History
The
law firm of Turner, Huguet & Adams can trace its roots
to 1961 when Gordon B. Turner opened his own law office in
Martinez in the old Tinning and DeLap building. The former
Contra Costa County Deputy District Attorney and City Attorney
for Concord (1938-1948) and Walnut Creek (1941-1946) joined
the reputable law firm of Tinning and Delap in 1941. In 1961,
Turner left that firm and became a sole practitioner. He was
joined in 1962 by Maurice E. Huguet, Jr. who subsequently
became the first, and so far only, City Attorney for Clayton,
a city celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2004. Turner and
Huguet maintained a general practice which included estate
planning, probate, real estate, litigation, business and municipal
law services. Jonathan Daniel Adams joined the firm in 1990,
bringing with him his expertise in civil litigation and issues
related to risk management, insurance coverage, and casualty
claims.
In 1991, Gordon Turner received a proclamation from the Contra
Costa County Bar Association for his 58 years of outstanding
service to the law profession, commending his "integrity,
legal skills, loyalty to clients, and habits of long hours
of hard work" as an example of "the best and highest
ethics of the legal profession". He remained "of
counsel" until his death in 1997.
Turner, Huguet & Adams proudly continues as a general
law firm whose areas of practice include municipal law, land
use, real estate, general business, estate planning, trusts
and wills, and civil litigation matters relating to real property,
environmental claims, condemnation, construction claims, insurance
coverage issues, personal injury and property damage. |
