Firm History

Our history grounds us.

The law firm of Turner Huguet Adams & Farr traces its roots to 1961 when Gordon B. Turner opened his law office in Martinez in the historic Tinning Building. Prior to starting his practice, he was a Contra Costa County Deputy District Attorney.  As a part of his early practice, he served as the City Attorney for Concord (1938-1948) and Walnut Creek (1941-1946).

In 1991, Turner received a proclamation from the Contra Costa County Bar Association for his six decades of outstanding service to the law profession, commending his "integrity, legal skills, loyalty to clients and habits of long hours of hard work" as an example of "the best and highest ethics of the legal profession."  He remained "of counsel" until his death in 1997. The firm continues his legacy.

Maurice E. Huguet, Jr. joined the firm in 1962 and, subsequently, became the first City Attorney for Clayton, serving in that position until 2005, when he was succeeded by his partner Dan Adams.

Dan Adams joined the firm in 1990, bringing expertise in civil litigation and issues related to real estate, risk management, insurance coverage and casualty claims. He has also served as District Legal Counsel for the Mt. View Sanitary District since 2005.

Deborah Moritz-Farr joined the firm in the Spring of 2008. Her emphasis is estate planning, trust creation, administration, distribution and probate.  In December 2009, she became a Partner in the firm.

Esther L. Kim joined the firm in 2016 and also focuses on estate planning, trust administration and probate.  She became a Partner in the firm in December 2020 and is now the lead Partner for these practice areas.

Our vision remains unchanged.  We proudly continue to utilize our firm’s broad experience and knowledge of the law including estate planning, trust administration and probate, sanitary district, and real estate to protect our clients in the most ethical, effective and efficient way possible.   We strive to ensure that decisions made today address immediate concerns as well as long-term goals.
